Thank you for a lovely weekend in Seaspray. The cottage was lovely and just the right size for us. It was so kind of you to put some electricity on the meter and some milk in the fridge. We will certainly stay with you again next time we come to see the relatives.

Thank you for your assistance, it has been a great time. Nice to have an un-pressured time, family enjoyed every minute even the teenage three year old. We will be back in the very near future.

Two new washing machines installed in the laundry room in time for the busy Summer period. New comfortable double bed mattresses have been supplied for Smugglers Cove and Beachcomber. Smugglers Cove now has a  new micro wave cooker.

The Hot Tub now has a new cover / lid in time for the summer. Old cover had become very heavy and was difficult to handle.

Watermouth Cove Cottages were purchased by Steve and Clare Mountain who  are working on an ongoing programme of refurbishment, upgrading and provision of additional facilities for guests. Comments, both good and bad are taken very seriously and, wherever possible, acted upon.

Beachcomber 21 - 18 May
Very friendly staff and a good location. We have no bad comments - just a wonderful stay. p.s. washing facilities available were good, but in need of updating.
The laundry room is on our list for tiling - we did not manage it this last winter but hope to get it done next time the cottages are all empty. We have already bought the tiles. Jan 2006//Tiling now completed and a new tumble dryer also.

Whilst we loved the setting - the castle, lake and grounds and gardens,  we found the smallness of accommodation difficult. We might come back if we could have a larger cottage with more kitchen space.

A lovely stay and enjoyed the convenience of nice walks and things to do. There was nothing we disliked and hope to return.

Smugglers Cove 29 March - 02 April
The location of cottage, welcoming tea tray, basket of logs, shower and comfortable bed all good! Would have liked fridge to be put on before arrival and we found the carpet in dining room somewhat tired. Would also like a blind or curtain in the bathroom window. We will certainly come back and will recommend.
Carpet in dining room was already on our list to be replaced and now has been. [Porch carpet also on our list to be replaced by tiles by the way!!] We have put blinds up in both the bathroom and the w.c.  Sorry about the fridge - purely an oversight.

Seaspray 26 March - 02 April
Very nice welcome on arrival and very friendly local staff. We found the facilities the location and the price excellent and will certainly recommend to everyone.

Driftwood 29 March - 02 April
Dry sunny weather for March so was able to play on beach and we did an 18 miles bike ride! We never stay in the same place twice but we will certainly recommend to others - good location.

Very quiet and very well equipped cottage. Thank yo ufor making our stay welcome. The cottages are value for money and that's why we will come again.

Our holiday was quiet and relaxing and very good value for money. Also very good for our dogs. I did not like being unable to use my mobile phone but I understand there's nothing anyone can do about this. Thank you for a lovely holiday.

Loved Bude and Woolacombe beaches and enjoyed all of our stay. The Globe [in Berrynarbor] offers a fantastic menu.

Had an almost perfect weekend spoiled only by paying for the electricity. We will be back but won't recommend to anybody - we want to keep it to ourselves!!
Thanks! The coin meters help us keep the prices low in the winter months. Starting at £129 for a week's stay, that works out at great value for money.

Thank you we have had a brilliant time! The environment was utterly beautiful and very relaxing. We hated having to leave. We all had a wonderful time here and hopefully will be returning in the future. Thank you again.

Everything excellent except the shower leaked all over the floor. We will certainly recommend to everyone and will be back!
Sorry about the shower - we have now replaced the shower screen with a normal shower curtain and this should prevent any more leaks!

We thought the cottage was perfect for us but perhaps a bit small for four unless they are a family. All furnishings very comfortable. A picturesque location combined with excellent facilities and excellent value. Thank you - we had a lovely weekend and will recommend you to friends and family.

Smugglers Cove 06-13 February
We found the cottage ideal and loved the quietness the proximity of the harbour, fire - and portch really useful for drying dogs, everything very enjoyable. Found an interesting intermittant fault on the dishwasher socket but the fault was tackled very quickly. Did not spoil our stay at all and we look forward to coming back.

Seaspray 19-16 February
Everything OK but we found the cottage too isolated but perhaps we visited at the wrong time of year.
Cottages are in a semi rural area surrounded by woodland - any time of year it is very peaceful.

Beachcomber 30 January - 02 February
Good internet site. We found the views and walks wonderful but did not use the garden area. The noise insulation is very good we could not hear the children around us. However toilet seat is in bad condition and we could not get the wood burner to stay alight!! Lovely holiday - we will book again.

Seadrift 07-10 November
Just to say that yet again we had a wonderful time staying with you in Seadrift. This was our third visit and will definitely not be our last. We so enjoy the peace and quiet and each time we visit things have been improved. Our first visit was in 2001 just after you had acquired the cottages. In 2002 a new bathroom had been fitted, a new three piece suite had been installed and you had refitted the bedroom. This time there was a new dining room table and hairs. We love our time with you and are very much looking forward to returning to you soon.

Love the peace and quiet in a beautiful English cottage. Each time we stay we notice little touches and improvements to what is already an impressive package.

Information provided was very helpful. The cottage was lovely, especially the log burner, but a radio would have made it better. Very lean and comfortable, nice to see lots of cleaning materials too! The garden was lovely and colourful, probably more enjoyable in the summer - we hope to come back in the summer.

Smugglers Cove 29 August - 05 September
Enjoyed the little touches, the milk, sherry, teabags etc. However bathroom is a bit tatty and in need of refurbishment. Beds in twin room uncomfortable but generally speaking the cottage was lovely and we will be back.
Bathroom has now been retiled and looks pretty good! Beds are always subjective - too soft, too hard and we were not sure which twin room this referred to. However, the divan beds [not the pine beds] are due to be replaced in 2004. NB: Jan05 beds now replaced.

It's a really nice place, cozy cottage and a bueatiful garden, and Chris and Rob are really nice and helpful people. We enjoyed the stay very much. Sun chairs need to be replaced.
No sooner said than done! All outside chairs and tables have been replaced with new.

Beachcomber July
We had a lovely holiday in Beachcomber and hope to return in the future. The accommodation was just right for us and the surroundings are beautiful. We had a very good welcome from Rob and it seemed a very friendly place. The only drawback for us was that some guests downstairs had a dog which was left by itself for long periods and howled and barked non stop for hours.
In our booking conditions we advise that dogs should never be left on their own unless prior permission has been granted - we then make it clear that noise disturbance is not acceptable. Owners are advised that if we do receive a complaint the call out fee will be deducted from their deposit. Therefore it is important to let us know immediately so that we can resolve the problem before it becomes irritating.

Driftwood July
We have just spent a really lovely week at Driftwood, Watermouth Cove. I took my mum and little dog Annie. I just wanted to say how kind Chris and Rob were as we were on our own. The television went wrong and I had to telephone Chris and within 15 minutes another one was in its place. They made sure we were OK and that we had everything we needed. We will certainly return next year to see the rabbits ducks et. My mum is actually home sick for the cottage.

Tidesreach 20-27 June
We have been to Devon many times and always enjoy the peace and slow pace. Everything in the cottage was satisfactory and met our needs perfectly. We won't be returning as we are moving to Devon but we will recommend.

Good weather! Spacious comfortable cottage, Many attractions within a short drive, and loved Watermouth Castle. Need to provide vegetable knife and peeler.
Thanks, these ARE provided, so must have been thrown out by accident by previous occupant - now been replaced.

Driftwood 11-18 April
Loved the weather, scenery and the peace and quiet. The communicating door between the two areas was excellent as it meant both families could have their own space but the dogs could go from one group to another without having to go outside.

Seadrift 11-14 April
Overall the cottage was very nicely cleaned and nice to see really clean tea towels, dusters etc. Tea tray was a nice touch. Loved the location, nothing we didn't like but could do with a video player for evenings.
Video players are on our wish list for the cottages but it is unlikely to be within the next year as we have so many other items we want to buy, such as new bed linen, carpets, microwaves etc.

Very comfortable and thank you for cleaning materials provided. Had a jacuzzi on last night and realised what we had been missing. An excellent centre for touring the area.

Loved the peace and quiet. The cottage has a spacious feel, and a homely, comfortable atmosphere. Some nice little touches - pictures, horse-stuff. Would have like a wood burner, missed the cosy feel of a log fire. It has been a lovely stay at a delightful place - a real find. The local representatives were very friendly and welcoming, but unobtrusive. I hope we can come back soon. Thank you.

Location, location, location! Also everything you need in a cottage. Very good value short break, very comfortable and well equipped. Excellent.

Smugglers Cove 03 - 07 Feb
Cottage is beautiful throughout, a warm and welcoming environment. Very relaxing. A light in porch could be beneficial. Lamp facing bed does not work and thermostat does not work - water becomes boiling with risk of scalding.
Lamp bulb now replaced, thank you. We have checked thermostat and agree it was too hot - we have reduced it and it is now hot, without scalding risk.

Cottage had everything we needed and we loved the woodburner. It was comfortable and spotless though windows needed cleaning. Views and surroundings most enjoyable.

Beachcomber 12 - 19 July
Internet is ideal and everything at the cottage was perfect. We slept well, the bed very comfortable. Lovely scenery, plenty to do, particularly liked Watermouth Castle - and so handy! Very comfortable accommodation, appreciated the milk in the fridge. A double plug so that kettle and toaster can be used at the same time would be useful.
We are looking at all the electrical points in all the cottages to see where we can improve numbers and accessibility.

Sandpiper 12 - 19 July
Booked on the Internet with no problem. Everything in the cottage was perfect, although the beds a bit hard. Loved the peaceful setting and surroundings and the nearness to the sea. Would have liked better views from the cottage windows and to have some shops close by. Hot tap in bathroom sink leaks.
Thanks! Beds are a bit subjective, some like them hard and others soft so we cannot always win that one! We have sorted the hot tap out!

Cottage was perfect. We didn't use the garden but the washing facilities are good. Car park spaces are a bit tight. We will be booking again.

The area is beautiful and the coast. You could not wish for anything nicer than the castle view from the cottages. Everything was perfect except the TV was a bit temperamental. Just keep it unspoilt as it is now. 

Smugglers Cove 05 -12 July
This is a one-off 40th birthday celebration for our son and family, so we won't be returning - we normally travel abroad or use our camper van in the UK. However we will be recommending to all our friends. The situation, location and tranquility are wonderful and we liked the little touches, a pint of milk, teabags, sherry all very much appreciated. There is inadequate working surfaces and cupboards in the kitchen.
We have now put in a large shelving unit which will enable our guests to tidy away all their packets and tins, plus a vegetable rack.

Seadrift 05 -12 July
Loved the peace and the setting of the cottages, and its central location to places to visit. A video would have been handy to keep children entertained when weather was poor.
We would like to provide all the cottages with videos but improving the furnishings has been more important than facilities. It will happen, though not sure when! We are happy for guests to bring their own videos with them if they so wish.

The family and Harry the dog thoroughly enjoyed the holiday, thank you. It was very easy to book, a very informative brochure, the facilities are excellent with nice homely touches, loved the four poster bed and all was clean. Really enjoyed the jacuzzi and we will definitely be back. The scenery is lovely and there are lots of places to visit - the big Sheep was especially great fun.

Enjoyed the peace and the hot tub is well situated. Need a small baking tray for the oven. Weather was dreadful.

Loved the seclusion and scenery and garden. There is a lack of crockery and the oven door is very difficult to open and the vacuum cleaners suction is poor. The odd job man is very helpful.
There are four pieces of each plate/mug etc. to ensure four people can sit down to dinner together. The oven door has been oiled and now works perfectly, sorry for that. Rob is our local representative who turns his hands to most things and looks after our guests impeccably! He IS very helpful!

Seaspray 21 - 28 June
Response to our emails very quick but would have liked an automatic confirmation of cot and high chair. Television tuning was a bit off and annoying and cupboards in bedrooms a bit musty, and drawers sticking a little. Also no mobile phone reception. The garden is excellent. The location, quiet and jacuzzi and weather were wonderful. Enjoyed visiting castle. Baby and dog loved watching the ducks and rabbits. Appreciated flowers, teatray, sherry and milk in fridge - very welcome. Would appreciate more hooks and towel rails in bathroom. 
Hooks and towel rails now installed in bathroom. Mobile phone reception is bad - sorry for that, we are in a dip. Many do find this an advantage though! TV has now been retuned and working fine.

Internet information excellent, but a phone in the cottage would be useful. Loved the privacy and tranquility of the area but hated the absence of a phone. Overall we have really enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning.

Smugglers Cove 15 -21 June
Just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay at Watermouth Cove Cottages. I was complaining about the drive down as I have never driven so far and swore no matter how nice the place was I would never come back. How wrong I was, the setting was perfect, the children loved being able to watch the rabbits and feed the ducks every day. We spent a day in the castle which was brilliant and well worth the money.

We have everything possible available to us in the cottage. We visited the local pub in Berrynarbor a couple of times and that was lovely also. This is the first holiday where I have been able to explore and feel like a child again, and really enjoy myself, also my son aged 7 said this was the best holiday he has ever had and he has been on a lot of holidays. Anyway I'm rambling on as usual, but I really thought an email was best as the comments form in the cottage doesn't have enough space for my rambling. Thank you once again for a lovely holiday and thank you for finding my son's towel.

Smugglers Cove
Could do with a cupboard to put dry food stuff in. We had a lovely time, and enjoyed visiting Clovelly. Didn't want to go home.
We are looking at different shelving units and cupboards and will be installing something so guests can put away tins and packets etc. UPDATE: We have installed pine shelving which has sorted out the problem very nicely! Now there is plenty of storage space and we have also added a vegetable rack.

Book in cottage is very useful and informative. Bathroom in need of updating but shower is good. The views are spectacular and the we loved the peace/tranquility and close proximity to the coast. Enjoyed the wood burner. Thank you very much for a most pleasurable stay.
Thank you - when we first purchased the cottages, Smugglers' bathroom was the best.  We have been refurbishing all the bathrooms and Smugglers already has a new bath, wash basin and floor tiles. The wall tiles will be done this coming winter.

Seashell 24-31 April
With your Friday to Friday booking arrangements, getting the Friday off work is difficult for both of us resulting in a loss of pay for that day. No hangers in the wardrobe. Loved the peace and quiet, lovely position. When either in the bathroom, or the master bedroom, there is a loud sound of running water 24 hours a day. A long mirror and a hook on the bathroom door would be nice. The milk and tea tray and the fire being laid was a nice touch. Thank you.
We very much appreciated being advised of the noise of running water. We called a plumber in  and there indeed was a leak under the floor which, had we been made aware at the beginning of the week, could have been sorted immediately. However, had we not been made aware we would have had a huge problem on our hands. Thank YOU. We have replaced the hangers, not sure where they disappeared to! With regards to Friday to Friday, this is our changeover day - it works well for us and many guests have commented on this being an advantage.

Teabags, milk and sugar was a very nice touch. Enjoyed the quietness and the castle, lots for kids to do and we hope to come back next year.

Just wanted to say we had a fantastic stay in Sandpiper last week. The cottage was absolutely brilliant for my disabled grandmother. It made our few days away so easy. The only disappointment was having to go home and leave not only the cottage and the beautiful surroundings but the peace and quiet. Wish Sandpiper was my home. Also would like to say how lovely and clean the cottage was and well stocked.

Good location, good pubs and food, plenty to do for family. Hot water supply very poor even though the emersion heater had been left on all night.
Sorry, we checked this out and have now installed a new heater - it was not working properly. Thanks for letting us know!

Cozy and comfy cottage with pleasant and natural garden. Loved the peace and quiet, the location and accessibility. There is plenty to do and see as the fancy takes you. Weather very bad but the nice, snug cottage compensated for it. This was our second visit and just as enjoyable. Already looking forward to our next visit.

Very warm, even in Winter. Excellent furnishings, warm and cosy a welcoming environment. Lighting near car parking facilities would be advantageous.
Mmmm, we are looking into various options - electricity supply is difficult to that part of the grounds which is why it has not yet been sorted.

We enjoyed staying in one of the most beuatiful places in teh world. I spent two or three perfect holidays at Watermouth Castle some 30 years ago and it is still perfect. Please don't change anything!

Information enabled us to find lots of beautiful places and fab food. Garden is well kept, disappointed the jacuzzi isn't open in Winter. The peace and tranquility with the addition of a beautiful cottage to stay in, we loved it all.

Peaceful but not isolated. Plenty to do in area. Found it suitable for us for an out of season break but would be suitable in season as it seems it wuld be still a secluded spot. Good base for touring all round.

Everything we needed and nice to have milk in the fridge. Easy chairs uncomfortable, garden very pleasant. Loved being remote, area very peaceful, beautiful setting. The cottage has been very cold, the sofa very uncomfortable. The cottage is beautiful and in an idyllic setting but the interior in need of updating.
Well, the cottage has now had more than 25 rolls of lagging placed in the loft and the difference is remarkable - so sorry this was not done before your stay. 3-piece suite has been ordered, we agree the seating needs to be changed.

We both enjoyed the cottage and grounds and places of interest to visit. The cottage was a home from home and we will be booking to come back again.

Relaxation, location, the layout of the grounds all very pleasant. Smoke alarm kept going off when cooking breakfast. Spoilt my plans for a roast dinner but didn't spoil our stay!

Garden absolutely beautiful and hope to come back again in March/April. We enjoyed everything. The cottage is stunning and was a real home from home. Hated leaving. The log fire is a real bonus.

Well equipped and comfortable cottage, lovely stay with very friendly neighbours. 3-piece suite needs a good clean. Location ideal for families.
3-piece suite has now been thrown out and replaced - it would not 'scrub up!'

Internet booking does not ask about the size of the party therefore potential for insufficient bedding. I like the folder! Shower not working well. Love the hot tub, whole garden very tidy and well kept. Have no hesitation in recommending. Beautiful area, lots to see and do. Cottage very peaceful and very friendly people. We loved the cottage.
I think we have sorted the Internet bookings and we now specifically ask for linen requirements. The shower has been fixed - we had major problems with water pressure - Seaspray now has a pressure reducer, a pump and a new cistern.

Cottage neat and tidy, super hot tub in the rain! no one bothered us, key in the door, the litle nice touch of sherry and welcome logs. Super spot managed in an adult way but 10 o'clock too early for leaving perhaps!

Lovely surroundings and really cosy cottage but the stay was not long enough! Will definitely recommend to friends and family - had a lovely time.

Peaceful and quiet location, Watermouth Castle excellent value. Genral holiday very good, nice surroundings, plenty to do even though out of season. Poor standard of furnishings, might come back if decor were improved.
Seadrift now has a new fitted bathroom, new furniture and by March will have new bedroom.

Excellent position for walking and visits. Quiet and relaxing. Suggest a boot tray inside front door. Also shower, either very hot or cold, may be faulty.
Yes the shower was - all to do with the water pressure which is now completely fixed.

It ws lovely to arrive after a long journey to such a clean place. The cottage is very small for any more than two plus a baby so if we come back we would stay in one of the larger cottages. It is very well situated for exploring North Devon. The walks, very peaceful and beautiful surroundings. Thanks!

The welcoming tea tray and sherry and glasses a very nice touch. There should be on site recycling for paper/glass, tins etc. instead of them just being thrown in the dustbin.
Sorry but there just is no room to squeeze in a recycling bin. Hopefully the council will one day collect recyclable material direct from the cottages.

Looks a bit old and warn but very clean, garden very pretty. We will recommend, its such a pretty spot. The setting is beautiful and the grden is pretty and well maintained. Devon is gorgeous. Lack of shop nearby but that's just because I'm a townie! Any problems we had were very quickly sorted out and with a minimum of fuss.

"Loved the area, this part of Devon offers so much. Children loved the beaches. Overall facilities OK - bathroom a big let down, hated having a bath. I think that the cottage would be so much nicer with the bathroom refurbished." [NOTE: No sooner said than done! The bathroom has a brand new washbasin and bath with a shower over. The gas heater has been taken out and a new emersion put in, enabling both a piping hot invigorating shower, and a relaxing bath.]

"Everything perfect although 4-poster bed a little IKEA-ish. We will recommend to others for the value for money, peaceful location, the log burner and view from the bay windows. The attention to details was excellent, the meet and greet and logs in fire." Just a quick note to say how much we all enjoyed our weekend at Smugglers Cove Cottage! It is a very lovely place and with such wonderful weather we were able to beach comb the weekend away quite blissfully.
